Logan & Nick’s Western Wedding at The Barn at Evergreen Farms

Logan and Nick’s wedding at The Barn at Evergreen Farms in Saint Helen, Michigan was a western-inspired celebration filled with cowboy hats, warm summer light, sentimental moments, and a reception that quickly turned into one seriously fun party. From their ceremony surrounded by the Michigan countryside to riding a mechanical bull in wedding attire and ending the evening with a vintage Ford pickup truck, their day felt relaxed, playful, and completely true to the two of them.
Logan wore a fitted white wedding gown with intricate lace detailing, a plunging neckline, and an open back, paired with a long veil that looked incredible against the fields surrounding the venue. As the evening went on, she added a white cowboy hat that brought even more of her personality into her bridal look. Nick complemented her in a light neutral suit with a matching vest, white shirt, brown boots, and a black cowboy hat. Together, their wedding style felt romantic and polished while still fitting perfectly into the laid-back western atmosphere of the day.
The Barn at Evergreen Farms gave us a beautiful mix of spaces to document their celebration. Inside, the warm wood walls, exposed beams, hanging lights, and soft white draping created an inviting backdrop for dinner, dances, and the reception. Outside, open fields, tall grasses, evergreens, and winding gravel drives gave the entire property a quiet country feel and provided plenty of variety without needing to leave the venue.
Some of my favorite photographs from the reception came from simply watching everything happening around Logan and Nick. Guests laughed from their tables, recorded dances on their phones, wore personalized heart-shaped sunglasses, and reacted to the moments unfolding in front of them. Those smaller interactions are such an important part of telling the full story of a wedding because the day is about so much more than what is happening directly in front of the bride and groom.
As the sun began to drop, we headed into the fields surrounding The Barn at Evergreen Farms for Logan and Nick’s golden hour portraits. The evening light turned the tall grasses golden while the sky softened behind them, creating the perfect setting for some of the most romantic photographs of the day. Logan’s long veil caught the light and moved through the field as the two kissed, laughed, and spent a few quiet minutes together away from the reception.
Their cowboy hats came out for another set of portraits, bringing the western personality of their wedding into the photographs without making anything feel overly staged. Logan and Nick stood together against the setting sun before settling into the tall grass for more relaxed portraits. Logan also took a few minutes for bridal photographs on her own, walking through the field in her gown, veil, and cowboy hat as the last of the warm sunlight moved across the property.
Then there was the mechanical bull. Guests climbed on throughout the evening in dresses, cowboy hats, and wedding attire while everyone gathered around to watch, laugh, and cheer them on. Logan eventually joined in without changing out of her wedding dress, creating some of the most fun photographs from the entire celebration. It was exactly the kind of moment that made their wedding feel so personal. Nothing about the day felt too precious to actually enjoy.
Back inside the barn, the reception became even more energetic. Personalized sunglasses, cowboy hats, colorful DJ lighting, and glowing foam sticks filled the dance floor while guests danced, sang, and completely embraced the party. Logan was right in the middle of it all, and the combination of her wedding gown, heart-shaped sunglasses, drinks, colorful lights, and friends surrounding her made for the kind of candid reception photographs that instantly bring the energy of the night back.
Before the evening ended, Logan and Nick incorporated a vintage blue Ford pickup truck into their portraits. The truck fit naturally into the western style of their wedding and gave us one more completely different setting for photographs. They leaned against it together, laughed beneath their cowboy hats, and shared a kiss beside the truck while Logan sat along the passenger side. I also photographed Logan on her own against the front of the Ford, her white gown and cowboy hat standing out beautifully against the vintage blue paint.
The truck eventually became part of their wedding send-off, decorated with a “Just Married” sign and cans trailing behind it as it headed down the gravel drive surrounded by the trees and fading evening light. We finished with one more playful newlywed moment as Nick carried Logan down the drive beneath the evergreens, both of them still in their cowboy hats as the last color disappeared from the Michigan sky.
Logan and Nick’s wedding was the perfect combination of romance and personality. The golden fields and rustic barn gave them the beautiful Michigan wedding setting, but the mechanical bull, cowboy hats, vintage truck, ridiculous sunglasses, packed dance floor, and all of the laughter in between are what made the day unmistakably theirs. It was exactly the kind of wedding I love documenting: relaxed, emotional, a little chaotic, completely personal, and filled with real moments that tell the story far beyond the traditional wedding-day photographs.
